Places an ellipsis at the end of a string as it is trimmed to length specified.

Parameters

value  String
The string to process.
length  Int32
The maximum returned string length; minimum value is 5.

Return Value

String
A trimmed string of the specified length or empty string if value is null or empty.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type String. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter. For more information, see Extension Methods (Visual Basic) or Extension Methods (C# Programming Guide).

Remarks

Returned string is not padded to fill field length if value is shorter than length.
